# Factors Of An Integer

## Description

The start of the lesson involves organising integers within a Venn diagram according to their number properties. Students build on this in the development phase by considering the factors of an integer using a times table grid and then mental methods. The application of calculating factors extends their learning later in the lesson by derivation of Primes and Square Numbers. The students encounter ‘Perfect’ numbers in the plenary.

## Differentiated Learning Objectives:

By the end of the lesson:

- All students should be able to calculate the factors of an integer using a times table grid.
- Most students should be able to calculate the factors of an integer using mental methods.
- Some students should be able to discover the first ten prime and square numbers by considering their factors.
